Supplemental WIPA Training Programs


WIPA NTC Supplemental Training: Providing Effective Work Incentives Supports on Other Federal Programs Web Course - Regions 3, 4, 6, 9

Description:

This supplemental training web course is designed to provide WIPA personnel with enhanced information, strategies and tools related to the following six key federal benefit programs:

- Assets for Independence Individual Development Accounts
- Temporary Assistance to Needy Families
- Food Stamp Program
- Housing and Urban Development
- Unemployment Insurance
- Worker’s Compensation

The web course will build on information provided on these federal programs in the WIPA National Training Curriculum.  The primary objective is to  equip CWICs with practical information and skills to effectively counsel and support beneficiaries on the array of benefits received and their dynamic interface. For each of the benefit programs, web course lessons will include the following: a brief review of program eligibility and rules; the impact of work on these benefits; detailed descriptions of work incentive provisions; tips for verification; working effectively with program personnel; and follow-up.


Course Details

 

1. Each of the subject lessons will require that you watch a video presentation and read supplemental material provided.  
2. Most of the presentations are approximately 30 minutes in length.  
3. Each lesson will also include other supplemental materials to review and a short essay assessment question.  
4. The assessment questions are pass/fail and will be graded by your instructor, who will also provide feedback within a week of the due date.
5. There is also required participation in a discussion board for this course.  
6. The assessments are required and will be due one week from the completion of each lesson.  

As a supplemental training, CWICs are not required to participate in the web course; however, we strongly encourage all WIPA personnel to register for this important training.   CEUs and CRCs will be available to participants who successfully complete the course.

Registration Information

Who can attend this training?

This web course is open to all WIPA project staff, SSA Demonstration project staff, and community partners who have participated in the CWIC Initial Training and successfully completed the CWIC assessment and certification process. Individuals successfully completing CWIC Recertification and Provisional Certification are also included in this group.  

To be eligible to participate in this training, all registrants must be either provisionally or fully CWIC certified, or recertified!

All WIPA Project Directors and Managers are also encouraged to participate regardless of their certification status.
