Supplemental WIPA Training Programs
WIPA NTC Supplemental Training: Supporting and Advising Beneficiaries in Pursuit of Self-Employment Web Course - Regions 3, 4, 6, 9
Format: Web Course
Date(s): June 14 - July 16, 2010
Description:
This web course provides practical information on how to support and advise a beneficiary who is interested in pursuing self-employment. We will begin with a brief overview of how SSA treats earnings from self-employment and the role of the CWIC. Building on this foundation, we will go forward and learn about how the work incentives apply in each disability program related to self-employment. The course will include various discussion board activities that will help you to understand the principles that you have learned through discussion with other participants. There will also be an assessment involving questions based on a self employment case study.
During this training you will learn:
- The CWIC roles and responsibilities in advising and supporting beneficiaries pursuing self-employment.
- Where other resources can be found to help support beneficiaries in areas not within the role of the CWIC.
- How self-employment impacts Title 2, SSI and other public benefits.
- Practical tools and techniques to help you advise and support beneficiaries who are pursuing or are engaged in self-employment.
